The Thief
Walter Moore

No thief of your money,
Your silver or gold.
He leaves you all jewelry,
The new and the old.
When he sees what he wants,
He’ll strike quick and fast,
His voice is his weapon,
It makes time dance past.
It will tell you these tales,
To show you his pain.
Well, from this moment on,
The Thief holds your chain.

You throw fear aside,
As his arms are open,
You gaze in his eyes
While he pulls you closer.
His hand rubs your back,
Your spine gets a chill,
With both heartbeats racing,
You cave to your will.
It’s behind those closed doors,
That love turns to passion
From this moment on
The Thief’s your attraction.

In his arms you lay,
Dreams growing so grand,
You know you are in love,
While your hand in hand.
His breaths fully wake you,
Each one tickles your ear,
You still think your dreaming,
There’s no way he’s here.
These few days have gone fast,
And to him you stake claim.
From this moment on,
The Thief holds your flame.

The times you two shared,
Make this the best week,
Each day your love grows,
It is perfection you seek,
But some things imagined,
Was misery taunting.
You feel him withdrawing,
With a smile so haunting.
You two fight and you argue
Both words cause a fray
From this moment on,
The Thief has the say.

From your life he walked,
Your happiness with him,
While you’re stuck in your bed,
Life starts to feel grim.
Writing letters while tears fall,
You pray that he’ll hear,
But your mind plays its tricks,
Telling you love is near.
With one last attempt,
You bare him your soul,
From this moment on,
The Thief makes you whole.

Your friends and your family,
They give you much grief,
 Sadly they just can’t see
Why you want the thief.
No crook nor a bad man,
 He’s just like us all,
Something they have to learn,
Is this was fate’s call.
You had no control,
But knew from the start,
And with time they will see,
He’s the Thief of your heart.
